The right- just like the left- have contributed mightily to the character of this country. Hospitals, charities built by conservative or religious Americans can be found all over the land and volunteerism by conservative or religious Americans have left a permanent and honorable mark on the tapestry of the nation.

The standard English interpretation of this would be since you’re asserting the right has contributed mightily and then go on to talk about ‘conservative or religious’ Americans, you’re talking about the ‘right’. Otherwise, why are you only referencing conservative and religious Americans? You’re obviously not talking about things the right AND the left has built, or your paragraph makes no sense at all.

I don’t know. Maybe you just wrote this terribly.
