Hey can I think out of the box here on illegal immigration. I am all for amnesty 100% but as a compromise how about all “illegals” get granted lifetime residency (aka Green card) but can never become US citizens (their kids could of course). Banning them from US citizenship for life (with the exception of citizenship granted for military service) is sucky to me but it would disarm the “take our country back” element and thus is a compromise solution that can be implemented right away.

That would be the only punishment - blocked from citizenship for life and maybe back taxes (though most illegals do pay taxes in one form or another or make too little to qualify for income tax while being illegal and doing honest work).
