It’s really kind of a win-win situation (aside from the case of getting terminated). Employees get to take the mental breaks they need. Employers don’t have to pay for vacation time they don’t need. Generally works out.

Well, it’s only a win-win as long as the employee actually feels like they can *take* the vacation time without it being a detriment to their career advancement possibilities. But yes.
