More specifically… the electors from NY wouldn’t be able to vote both for Bloomberg as President and HRC as VP. So if it’s close, you could end up with, say, 275 EC votes for Bloomberg and 263 for Trump… and then with 29 NY EVs out of the mix, 246 EVs for Hillary and 263 for Pence.

That would be ugly.


The New York electors could vote for someone from another state for Vice President—example cast 29 electoral votes for Bloomberg as President and 29 electoral votes for Bob Casey of Pennsylvania. Since no candidate for Vice-President would have a majority, the Senate selects from the top two.
