All that matters is if they can sell themselves successfully as outsiders to people who are fed up with politicians and politics as usual.

That is what allowed Trump to get away with gaffes that would have ruined the campaign or even the career of any other professional politician.

And I’m asking what it is about our culture that make these political fossils inspire cult like devotion Why does a man like Trump who never shown any civic interest in his life before 2016 get seen as presidential material. Why do two backbenchers like Bernie and Ron Paul who despite being in Congress for eons get treated like crusading outsiders. Bernie, Ron Paul, and Trump are all the same shitty coin. A snake oil salesman who promises radical change but has no political skills at all.
