re: #84 No Malarkey!
I have a question, if anyone knows. If members of the Japanese royal family arenāt supposed to marry ācommoners,ā who the Hell are they supposed to marry? Does Japan have other nobles like Dukes and Barons? I canāt imagine they would want them marrying European nobles. news.yahoo.com
Itās really becoming a crisis of sorts. Imperial men can now marry commoners. Makoās grandmother was the first and caused a big sensation in the 1950s. The current empress also came from a prominent businessmanās family. But, if memory serves, thereās only one male heir right now. And the women who have married into the family have suffered traumatic stress over the pressures society and media places on the family, not to mention the Imperial Household Agency. So, good luck getting anyone to marry the heir to the throne.
