I hope so. It’s a big problem here in Chicagoland. The gangs send their members into the military for training.

Read a book “Hard Corps” written by a gang member who joined the marines. The marines straightened him out and kept him form a life in and out of prison. I believe it can go either way. One main draw of a gang is to “belong”, with the armed forces that desire to “belong” is satisfied in a positive manner.
