re: #868 Occasional Reader

I have not even thought of attempting to dream of imagining trying to take down the trigger assembly on my Kimber yet. Will work my way up to it.

I didn’t know that H&Ks were hard to field strip. Hm. This increases my admiration for Dr. Glock. Simplicity has a sophistication all its own.

A broomhandle Mauser isn’t that hard, either. The only tool required is a long and thin screwdriver.

There are precisely two screws in the weapon; one holds the grip together and the other anchors the floor of the magazine. Everything else is held together by the firing pin. Pull that out, pop out the retainer, then the bolt and upper receiver come off as a unit. There’s a latch at the top of the grip. Pop that latch and everything but the trigger slides out of the lower receiver.

The only things to watch out for are the springs. Lose one of those and you have a very expensive paperweight.
