No, I didn’t say that correctly. The early Christians did not rewrite the stories. Later ones did, such as the Sodom and Gomorrah story referenced. The sin changed from being cruel to the homeless and the poor, the widows and orphans, to having gay sex. I would suppose that, in the BC era, being nasty to the unfortunate was a far bigger crime than two guys having sex.
