Not often that a politician is so naked with an admission that the party has causes in order to get elected, rather than because those causes are actually right, but he’s not wrong.

When (not if) the modern GOP eventually has to have a come to Jesus moment about gay marriage, they will absolutely lose a large chunk of their base.
