The segment of our society who are very much supporting Trump are in a deeply revanchist mood, a destructive mood. To them Trump is a hero when he takes on “the media” etc.

My beliefs are a threat to these people. And I want to dismantle their worldview, and they know it. Me, and all the other modernists who want to push forward. The Trumpers feel unsafe in the world of the 21st century, they prefer a century before the 20th. They want their strongman to return them to a simpler world.

That is the bottom line.
