Reminds me of “The open society and it’s enemies” where Karl Popper argues that it’s suicide for tolerant open societies to be tolerant of intolerance. He argues that fascism has to be repressed, because if you give fascists the unfettered freedom to organize they will take over by force.
Oh, sort of like how it was said that allowing Mubarak to be overthrown by popular protest in Egypt was a mistake since it was going to open the door for the Muslim Brotherhood to take over?
This claim, of course, overlooks all the baggage floating around in Egypt from earlier regimes, European de facto control of the country, and other historical events.
