Yikes. That’s a lot of water.

We’re on the valley side-slope of the North Platte about forty feet and about a mile away, so we should be safe from flooding here (unless the water tower collapses, then we’re done).

It was so much water coming down the Mississippi, that the Illinois ran backwards. That’s how we got wet. Some school children put a bottle in the North Platte up in your neck of the woods, and it came down there, down the Missouri, down the Mississippi for a ways, and then came backwards and landed up north of here. Satellite photos from that period were something.
