My favorite part of the whole thing was when I think some mayor or MP in Cornwall wanted the benefits of EU membership but still wanted to leave. Either suck it up and stay in the EU or leave and deal with the consequences.
Wasn’t that the same area that, it was determined, was getting something like €100M annually in benefits from the EU - which the local government pointed out to them in numerous ads - but still voted “Leave” in large numbers?
And whose voters, in post-Brexit polling, IIRC, never quite could explain their motivations clearly outside of vague “nationalism”, i.e. “too many foreigners”??
