If the document is corrupt, or as a last resort, rename it from .docx to .zip (yes, .docx is just a PK-zip container) and you’ll be able to see the contents in raw form. The actual document will be XML, so it’s a hugely unfriendly way to read it, but you’re desperate to retrieve any content…
