I hope you realize that egalitarian as it’s now used is equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome. The only time it looks like an attempt at equality of outcome is when equality of opportunity is impossible.

I favor that part in italics, but I do not believe that Obama does, not the left in general. I think they remain, pardon the phrase, wedded to equality of outcome.
