More on Paris and France in general:

I encountered absolutely zero anti-American animosity. (I think the fact that I can stumble through with at least a certain amount of French helps.) People were either reasonably friendly, or as indifferent as one would expect in a big NYC-style city.

Pay toilets… good gawd! Where’s all this frickkin’ socialism when it comes time to take a piss?! Maybe if they had more free public toilets, fewer French men and boys would feel the need to, ah, “mark their territory” outdoors.

Did I mention that Paris is chock-full of outlandishly beautiful women?

Mont Saint-Michel, word of advise: Stay the night, on the island (yes, it’s also too damn expensive, etc.). Do the “Promenade Nocturne” of the abbey (which is the summit of the island). Magic. Then, wander around the isle between, say, 12:30 pm - 1:30 am; you’ll have the streets to yourself, literally. Quite a contrast to the throngs of tourists during the day.
