I understand wanting to avoid unjustified guilt by association criticism. Guilt by association can be wrongly used. But it’s not always a fallacy to draw inferences about a politician like Donald Trump based on who supports him. There’s a reason white supremacists and racists are drawn to his campaign; it’s because he is deliberately courting them, in many ways.

When he retweets them, applauds and encourages their reactions at his rallies, and HIRES THEM for his campaign, we are no longer talking about mere “guilt by association”.
