I think the best thing to say is “we’ll see.” Incurable optimist. I don’t think this is how it’s going to play out. And either of us could be right. Time will tell.

There’s reason for some guarded optimism. However, international humiliation for the United States is inevitable, and the GOP rank-and-file will ratfuck as much as they possibly can before their luck runs out. Plus constitutional crisises can’t be fun.

It’s possible that we can get out of this with some scrapes, maybe a broken arm or leg.
