And that ultimately is the only thing that matters to them. Goddamnit, I’ve never liked the GOP at all but you know what, I always thought until fairly recently that they were concerned about our country.

Maybe it’s because I grew up in a Republican household, and was a RINO from the age of 18 through my 20s (if not a bit longer because I was too lazy to change my registration), but I always felt like they had a different vision but were ultimately patriotic. I think that changed sometime in the last decade, but started during the Bush Administration when they first had control of Congress and the Presidency for the first time in living memory. Power became an end unto itself for too many of them.
