re: #87 allegro

One of the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life was move from a 2500ish sq ft home into a 34’ motorhome. Not because of lack of space - I actually love that. It was parting with several lifetimes of stuff. It was my late parent’s stuff, my late husband’s stuff, it was stuff from my own lifetime. I didn’t need any of it but saying goodbye to each single piece, every memory it held was emotionally exhausting. I had to hire an estate sale person because I couldn’t deal with putting price tags on memories that were priceless to me. I knew if I tried to do it myself I wouldn’t be able to part with anything.

The happy ending is that it was also liberating beyond description. I was enslaved by all that stuff and I knew it. I have no regrets. Well one - I should have kept my hubby’s little red wagon because dragging a big bag of trash to the dumpster is a PITA.

I’m going to be facing those kind of choices in 3-5 years. I’m starting to realize that I’m willing to live without furniture as long as I can keep my books and records.
