I really think what defines individuals is their empathy or at least trying to. You guys have heard about my wingnut friend. He doesn’t empathize at all. My closest brother in age and the father of my niece does. He’s able to try to understand tribes seldom contacted by the modern world. I know I sound like a broken record but I really think attempting to understand those totally different from yourself is what separates a liberal from a conservative on a purely human, non ideological level.
