As a scientist he should be aware:
We’ve significantly reduced road deaths (stricter treatment of drunk drivers, improved vehicle design for safety imposed by law, improved engineering of highways and safety devices, &c).
We have a preventative for flu deaths developed by scientists: Vaccines. Same with pneumonia.
We’ve dramatically lowered medical error or medically-induced diseases, by science-driven data leading to improved outcomes through regulations, laws, and practices.
