Running theory is that Donny is gonna try to play “hero” by having Modly “resign” and then reinstating Crozier.

Not going to happen Capt. Crozier embarrassed him and will stay fired. Modly has also now embarrassed him and will also be fired (asked to resign). His non-apology was only the first step.
