When someone takes the office of Attorney General, how are we to evaluate them:

(1) by their actions; or
(2) by our fears?

Exactly. There’s more than enough legitimate criticisms to make of their actions, without having to resort to fearmongering. Many unhinged people on the left did this sort of thing to Bush, too. It detracts from legitimate criticism and makes it easy to tarnish the legitimate critics as being nuts.

Also, it ensures a bad signal to noise ratio in our political discourse, and that harms all of us, no matter what our politics or ideology.
