re: #79 NO SMOCKING GUN!

Biden obviously shouldn’t sink too many resources into Texas, because it’s not a tipping point state, but the D’s should certainly deploy resources there to try to win that Senate seat. The D’s are going to have to win some lean R seats to win a majority, and the more places they are competitive, the better their chances are.

I dunno: Texas may not be quite the monolithic (R) bastion it has been for decades, but, unfortunately, it looks like the chances of unseating Cornyn are pretty slim. OK, I will make the disclaimer that I am no expert on TX politics, (and will appreciate any education in the matter), but 1) It’s Texas: money for RW politics isn’t (and will NEVER) be an issue; 2) It’s still WAY too early in the electoral season to draw any conclusions above the wishful-thinking level; 3) There seems to be a fatal dearth of popular, qualified, state-official level (D) candidates to overcome the toxic effects of 1) - who is Cornyn’s opponent likely to be? (Primary yet??)

BTW, I don;t mean to be a downer here: if Texas still looks even remotely competitive by, say, September, I think the national Ds should throw every resource they can into the state: making the GOP fight for every seat in the House and Senate ought to be Basic Politics 101 at the DNC: but sadly, isn’t. (I was very pissed to hear that Tom Cotton, up for reelection this year, does NOT have a formal (D) opponent in Arkansas, just a write-in “independent”. OK, AR may be a lost cause, but SRSLY: NO ONE??)
