I admit that a good deal of this is on an emotional level, which is extremely bad in International relations.

While looking at Anti-Ziganism, I found something on Maria Theresa. She sounded like a very nasty person. Like an Austrian version of Selim the Grim, except without the mass killing.

She has not been remembered fondly by the Jews of Europe, let’s just say.

There’s a play, “Stones of Kolin”, which has a song about her. (It also has a song about Frantisek Kmoch, who comes off much better.)

I had not previously heard of Selim the Grim. That’s a great name.
