Just about any sport is going to carry its share of risk.

Football and soccer have far, far, far higher risks than many other sports. You’re right that any sport that has collisions is going to have these risks, but there are tons of sports that don’t. Running, swimming, tennis— basically, any sport where you don’t collide with other people or have something collide with your head— are much, much, much safer. It’s an entirely different category, especially since the injuries you get in those sports aren’t ones that affect your brain.

There is no comparison of the average damage from playing football to the average damage from being a runner.
