Yes, the GOP had every chance to take him out without having to resort to Constitutional powers. They failed. I cannot see them coming through at this point.

Only Trump can remove Trump from the picture, through illness, mental breakdown, or whatever. Pence does not have charisma or the cult-like following Trump has, and his presidency would marginally be better. Marginally.
