I did not go searching into Dao’s past to find shit about him. And if anyone is suggesting I did, they can pipe down right about now. I wanted to confirm that Dao is a doctor in E-town where I have relatives. Along the way, I found about his troubles with the law and the medical board. So, should I have omitted that information here, and just said he was a doctor? It’s only a matter of time before the Louisville media positively identify the guy and bring up prior news stories about him.

I am really quite offended anyone is thinking I had some ulterior motive in bringing up his past. I’m a former reporter. I was reporting facts. That’s all.

I agree with some of the others that Dao’s rap sheet and disciplinary record by the medical board shouldn’t be germane to what United and the Chicago airport police did to him, but I also agree with you that, if you found that info just Googling him, defenders of United and the Chicago airport police’s actions (and, also, bigoted shitheads in general) have already found it too and will attempt to use it to say that Dao deserved what he got, which is utter and complete bullshit.
