I agree with you regarding the divisions, but my point here would be that Spain degenerated into a regular civil war fought by conventional means, whereas Yugoslavia simply disintegrated like Lebanon and became a urban hell with snipers shooting in the streets. Imagine, say, Houston turning into that sort of nightmare; what will the US army do then? Bomb it into a pancake?
