I’m seeing shit on my Facebook feed about how she’s being manipulated by her devious parents and that she isn’t that bright because of autism. My friend and follow lists keep getting smaller and smaller. And I honestly don’t give a fuck anymore.

Being on the autism spectrum doesn’t mean you’re not intelligent. Some autistic people (like me) are very intelligent but can be socially clueless. I always hated being told I wasn’t working up to my potential.

I think it’s great Thunberg has done so much despite the autism. I’d note that she wasn’t diagnosed until a couple of years ago, which is another data point on how autism manifests differently in girls than in boys and is diagnosed much later than boys.
