Notice how it’s a tacit admittance that Trump is horrible, but we somehow deserve him because (liberals suck).

It’s narcissist logic: you made me do this, because you made me feel bad. They dress it up a bit with folksy tropes, but that’s the core of it.

But it’s also an unwitting confession of sorts: when they talk about being condescended to and such, they’re showing their epistemological ass. What is truth? What they want to hear—that they’re smart and deserve more and nothing that’s gone wrong is their fault—and the alternative—that things are nuanced, but also the institutions they support are making their lives worse—make them feel humiliated.

They are screaming “fuck your feelings” because all they have is their feelings.
