She’s medically compliant, but she hadn’t had an episode in three years time.

They reduced her lithium dosage in early December. When they tested her bloodwork at the end of the month, her lithium levels were on the low end. Then she took that ill-advised trip to Nebraska and got sick, then shortly after returning, she started becoming hypomanic. The Doctor raised her lithium dosage back to its previous prescription, and prescribed lorazepam to help her sleep, and later respiradone, but her system is fighting the meds.

She’s just come off a very stressful semester and it was probably a bad time to reduce her meds in early December. She was supposed to start a new job with new responsibilities this week, along with new classes. A combination of stressors probably contributed in altering her brain’s chemistry. We’ve been in email and phone contact with her current doctor, and they already had a scheduled appointment for a face-to-face meeting later today.

The real problem is, if her condition worsens requiring hospitalization, Covid and the psych ward being full makes it dangerous and more difficult.
