The belief system of Christianity is supposed to be about introspection; realizing that you are a sinful person, and while you can’t completely remove your sin by yourself, you should still do what you can to live a better life. Somehow that’s evolved into, “I abdicate my personal responsibility; Jesus will forgive me for anything wrong I do, so it literally doesn’t matter how much wrong I do.” We’re back to selling pardons for sins, but instead of invading Israel, they’re going on holy crusades against sluts and gays and gun-hating liberals.
