This already happened. Check the latest filings, Gawker is addressing the Federal District Court now. The removal occurred a month ago. CCJ had no opportunity to appeal because removal to federal court is a defendant’s unilateral right in cases over a set amount of money and a total diversity of jurisdictions.

Yep. Chuck doesn’t understand that Gawkers incurs basically zero risk at this point. They will secure a judgment against him and they will place liens against everything he owns. Denton has zero reason to settle and every reason to make CCJ suffer.

If Chucky’s lawyer wasn’t a fruitloop…well okay, if he wasn’t a fruitloop, we wouldn’t be talking about a case here. But really, were he has sane, he’d be pushing Chuck to find some way to talk settlement for a paltry sum. Financially-crippling, sure, but far lower than what he’s gonna get hit with when Denton files anti-SLAPP and the court brings down the hammer on him. But no, they’re gonna insist on taking this to the bitter end, which is gonna see him hit with fines and fees that will make his eyes water.
