Every Trump speech, tweet, interview…any time he makes words…wears down my faith in humanity. It’s like poisonous black sludge being injected into my intrinsic optimism.

I don’t like the way I’m changing, the anger and disgust I feel now, the awareness I can do nothing to make it go away until November. I can turn it off but I also feel a deep, deep responsibility to witness this man and KNOW and never, ever forget what was inflicted on this country by the Republican Party in 2016.

The only way I can do it is through the filter of this site. Believe me, this election cannot be over fast enough for me.

Don’t hand your optimism or view of the world on one person, even if it’s a party leader.

The country is actually changing for the better right now, but you have a large group of people fighting it. The don’t want blacks or women being president. They don’t want gays to marry. They want all the people they don’t want to have to be nice to to go back into the closet.

It’s good that we, as a group, are engaged in politics because so many people aren’t. But don’t get lost in the minutiae. Make sure you keep in mind how big it is compared to everything going on. That doesn’t mean everything is awesome, but it means that we’re fighting to keep the momentum going, which is better than fighting to get our first win.
