He was a product of his times. No better, no worse than anyone else. Washington owned slaves. Jesus didn’t have a damned thing to say about slavery. They were still thoroughly decent men.

Well, okay, thoroughly decent may be taking things a bit too far. Washington was decent. Luther was maybe slightly above average, for his time.
