Had two mostly separate thoughts about the presidency, and am curious what people around here think:

1. eliminating the electoral college probably happens if/when someone wins an actual majority of the popular vote but loses in the EC.

2. what if the presidential term was 8 years, and you couldn’t serve consecutive terms?

On the second idea, a couple of point:
- people would probably take the election more seriously because it is for a longer period of time
- congress may be more willing to use impeachment for bad acts because of the longer term length
