The Cordoba house was so named because during that time period there was unprecedented religious tolerance inside the Islamic empire, and there was stable peace between Christendom and the Islamic world for quite awhile. It was at least as peaceful between them as it was between Christians and themselves, who were slaughtering each other constantly.
