Lake effect snows will get worse with global warming because the lakes will remain unfrozen for longer periods enabling cold arctic winds to sweep over and gather the moisture that then falls downwind on the snow belts. That’s why parts of Western NY have seen 3+ feet of snow so far, with no sign of it letting up.
