Trump ran nothing. He basically convinced a bunch of investors to join with him in financing two casinos, which were managed by real casino operators. Trump knew nothing about running a casino. If he did, he would have known Atlantic City’s casino business had already hit market saturation by the time he arrived on the scene. and two more casinos, no matter how glitzy or Trumpified, were doomed from the start.

Like his purchase of the Plaza in Manhattan, the Trump casinos were just an impulsive rich boy’s attempts to be a Big Name in Real Estate. Despite large cash infusions from Fred Trump, Donnie went bankrupt and lost the casinos and the Plaza, but somehow managed to leave with money in his pockets. His fellow investors in the casinos, and the people working in them, and the contractors who never got paid, not so much.
