Hook a tow strap to that suv and pull it off.

My fire chief dad and his compadres would be, and possibly are, laughing their asses off at this. If something got in their way, they would just push it to the side, whether an old couch, a piece of freight, or a new Mercedes-Benz. In this case, the wooden pallet could function nicely as a skid, just tie a strap to it and pull it off the road with a patrol car.
