Anyway, we have members of one of our two national parties submitting bills that would subject women to invasive ultrasounds before they can have an abortion, and who even downplay the likelihood or dismiss entirely the possibility of rape resultant pregnancies. Yes, women have better rights here than in most of the Middle East, that’s not really cause to pretend that we’ve in any way solved, or even begun to solve the problem of rape and sexual assault.

And a recent change in policy deserves some positive attention. We now have more transparency on the policy. IMO as we must have for credibility in the global view.

The Justice department memo categorically rules out a Judicial Branch role in the process. Transparency is kind of an illusion when the policy is carried out without even the potential for oversight. Leadership integrity doesn’t last long in a vacuum, it needs some kind of constant pressure to maintain itself.
