So, over the last week or two, my kids have sucked me into watching Adventure Time.

At first, I thought it was just another silly kid’s cartoon, with Finn and his dog on imaginary adventures, then as my watching it, it starts to have real depth.

The whole story is supposed to be 1000 years after a nuclear war had wiped out civilization and the various monsters are all mutants from after the war. The Ice King, who was the villain in the early episodes, turns out to have been a archaeologist who found the Ice Crown which allowed him to survive the war, but drove him insane. He ended up loosing all memory of who he was trying to save a girl named Marceline, who became the Vampire Queen, the one person who remembers who he used to be.

I found the storyline very engaging and moving, more that I thought a cartoon ever could be.
