Question to Austin and Bagua…

The last thread had the start of a discussion about how to shut down the oil flow from the BP disaster.

Could the two of you please elaborate on what was being discussed earlier.

My basic question is, what is there that is available to plug the hole. Why did we not just try to plug it in the first place. How would we go about doing so?

I am not all together thrilled about the idea of the “junk shot” it sounds porous at best.

What could practically be done to close the damn thing quickly?

BTW I don’t think we could use a nuke because of the depth this is at. I can’t see a crush proof submersible device that would fit the opening being possible to manufacture.
