Why not? What makes a Public school public after hours? I have rented a “public” room for private purposes. And had security ready top prevent or remove trespassers. My event was a wedding reception. We could have barred anyone but a peace officer or fireman.

Lots of public schools rent out space “after hours”. I don’t know about the “security” thing, though…
