I guess Va has fairly liberal alcohol laws. I can get beer in the grocery store and at 7-11s and places like that. Have to get liquor at ABC stores but they’re abundant. Now in my ideal universe, we’d be more like Europe and able to get it at the grocery store.

…That would depend on what part of europe. anything not wine, beer or <14% (I believe) mix requires a different license here - there are supermarkets with an adjacent liquor store but you’re certainly not going to buy a bottle of whiskey in the supermarket here in the Netherlands any more.

funny thing, I know some guys who sometimes just get pot at the local coffee shop when it rains because it’s closer than the liquor store. go figure :)
