I recall when the Shogun was running on TV, sponsored by Procter & Gamble. Although I found the story & history fascinating, I had to give up watching because every 13 minutes it was interrupted by a Middle American family household having a domestic crisis: unpleasant odors, fading clothes colors, spots on glasses & silverware, etc., which was then promptly solved by a trusted family member, friend or neighbor recommending the corresponding P&G to banish whatever unpleasantness had arisen, and restore the family on its path towards Middle-Class Perfection…
