One could probably argue that point successfully yes, but it seems to me that the real watershed was the Palin nomination. Something broke there I think. It’s just a gut feel though and bla bla.

This started way back before Palin. Remember Luap Nor was in the Race well before she was announced, and he didn’t drop after the announcement. He also held his own convention. It goes way back and started with the Buchanan brigade making “culture wars” a key theme of his campaign, and it’s built ever since. The first big break with GOP general was over immigration and SC nominations, so you can see that it’s the Socons driving it. Michelle Malkin was at the forefront of the nativist RINO hunting horde, and still is.
